TicketMaster just announced a new interactive seat map feature that allows you to more easily book seats next to your friends at concerts. The new feature integrates with Facebook’s social graph so you can easily find your friends and let them know which concerts you’re attending.
For those of you who regularly follow this blog, you may recall me writing about an idea called “Friend Discovery” several months ago. Friend Discovery connects an organization’s CRM database with the social networks of its customers. That helps customers connect with friends who also care about the organization’s work – and that’s a game-changer. In this case, the work is helping people buy tickets, and this new “social seat map” is a prime example of exactly what I was talking about with Friend Discovery.
The new social seat map feature works by essentially allowing you to ‘tag’ yourself to your seat. It also gives you flexibility and control over which friends you want to share your concert plans with and will even notify friends if you purchase tickets for them.  I have a feeling it’s going to be very popular with young concert goers.
